About me
Nikola Nikolovski

Hello! I’m a 26-year-old International Master from Macedonia, with over 18 years of chess experience and a Bachelor’s degree in psychology. Chess has been my lifelong passion, and along the way, I’ve learned how to play practically and study efficiently—a skill set I now pass on to my students.
Teaching became a key part of my journey in 2015 when later on I went to become a FIDE Instructor, coaching students of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to players rated up to FIDE Master. My interest in psychology also grew during this time, leading me to earn my degree in 2021, as I realized how valuable communication and social skills are in connecting me to the world and also with my students. Yet, chess remained my true calling, and it’s where I’ve dedicated most of my life.
Some highlights of my career include sharing 1st-3rd place at the Arad Open in 2023 with Hans Niemann and Haik Martirosyan among 424 participants, winning the Karpos Rapid Tournament, and taking first place at the Skopje Open 2019. I’ve also represented Macedonia as an Olympiad team member since 2016, achieving a peak FIDE rating of 2454. As a coach, besides giving individual and group lessons, I’ve had the honor of leading training camps in 2023 and 2024 and coaching the national junior team at the European Youth Chess Championship in 2023.
As I became older and the obligations in my personal life became more and more demanding, the time for chess decreased, so many of my students had the same issue, little time to devote on the passion that they have – chess, yet wanting to improve and get better at it, so I thought and thought… if there was just a way that I could get the most important things out of those long videos or books that take ages to go through…
Today, there’s an overwhelming amount of chess resources available – endless books, courses, databases and other materials – but I believe that real progress comes from focused, efficient learning. This insight inspired me to create FiveMinutesChess.com, a platform designed for you to learn chess quickly and efficiently.
Through short, impactful lessons, you can quickly grasp essential concepts, keep chess in your daily routine, and advance at your own pace. FiveMinutesChess.com is the culmination of my dedication to making quality chess learning accessible, efficient, and always within reach.
